The council charges £69.80 for a collection of up to 12 larger household items — beds, wardrobes, washing machines, TVs, tables and one fridge or freezer — dropping to £35.20 for households claiming Housing Benefit or Council Tax Support. The catch is placement: items must be outside the property and in position by 7am on the day. Crews do not come inside. If the wardrobe is on the landing, the sofa is in the back room or the freezer is in the garage, that is the actual work and it is still yours to do.
