Rubbish Removal & Man and Van Uxbridge — UB8, UB9 & UB10

Uxbridge is home for us — it’s where Van Thats Quick is based, and it’s the administrative heart of the London Borough of Hillingdon, with the Civic Centre and the borough’s main services in the town. The UB8 postcode covers the town centre, the High Street shopping area and Cowley to the south; UB10 runs east toward Hillingdon Heath and the Ickenham border; and UB9 reaches north-west toward Denham and Harefield. Wherever you are across those districts, we’re usually only a few minutes away.

Being local means we know the practical side of clearing waste here. Hillingdon’s household reuse and recycling centre is the Harefield Civic Amenity Site on New Years Green Lane (UB9), just up the road — but taking your own waste isn’t always simple: cars need a HillingdonFirst card, and anyone arriving in a van needs two forms of ID and is limited to 12 visits a year. That’s why most Uxbridge households find our load-and-go service easier: we do the lifting and the licensed disposal, with no skip permit to arrange and no trip to the tip. The council’s bulky collection is an option for one or two large items, but it books days ahead and leaves you to carry everything to the kerb.

Typical Uxbridge jobs in any week: an end-of-tenancy clearance in a Cowley terrace, a sofa and mattress removal from a flat near the High Street, a garden and builders’-waste clear-out on a Hillingdon Heath semi, and student move-outs around Brunel University London. Parking and access shape every job — the town-centre controlled parking zones, the one-way system around the shopping streets and the tighter roads near Uxbridge station (the Piccadilly and Metropolitan terminus) all matter, so tell us the address when you book and we’ll plan the loading stop. Before booking a waste collection: ask us to identify the registered carrier handling the job and provide the registration details, then verify those details on the Environment Agency public register before handing over any waste.

Uxbridge is our home base, so this is the shortest run we do — and it shows up as same-day availability rather than as a discount. The work here splits three ways: town-centre flats and the blocks around the Chimes and Belmont Road, the Brunel student turnover every summer, and the older housing out towards Hillingdon and Cowley where garages and lofts come out in one go.

Everything below is priced by the space the load fills and the labour involved, not by the hour, and the price is fixed after a photo or video walk-through before anyone sets off. Every figure includes two people, all the loading and lifting, and the disposal and recycling fees. No skip, no permit, and no VAT to add — the price shown is the price paid.

Access is the variable that moves an Uxbridge price, not distance. A ground-floor terrace off Cowley Road and a third-floor flat with no lift are the same volume and a different job, so we fix the price after a photo rather than guessing on the phone.

Moves and collections that are not clearances are charged hourly, with a two-hour minimum. Longer bookings and full moves are quoted as a fixed all-in price instead.

Heavy builders’ and DIY waste is priced by weight instead, from £95 for up to 100kg, because rubble and furniture do not weigh the same per cubic yard.

Upholstered seating and mattresses are not priced on the load ladder above — they are all-in by the item, because POPs rules mean they must be incinerated separately. What moves the price is whether you put the item outside for us or we carry it out of the property.

Carrying it out adds £55 — any room, any floor, stairs and no-lift flats included, about 40 minutes of our £95/hr two-person crew. Every figure is all-in: the specialist disposal fee is inside the price, never added on the day.

Items that carry an eco fee

A handful of items carry a legally required specialist disposal cost. Sofas, armchairs and mattresses are all-in on our sofa & mattress prices — £95 if you put it outside, £150 if we carry it out — so the fee below is already inside that price and nothing is added on the day. The London Borough of Hillingdon runs a paid bulky waste collection across UB8, and for a small qualifying job it is good value. It is charged per collection slot, not per item:

One slot covers a single fridge or freezer on its own, or up to six other items such as a sofa, bed, mattress or wardrobe. The price is per slot rather than per item — so one mattress on its own still costs the full £53.

The four limits that catch people out

1. The crew will not come inside. Everything must be at the boundary of your property, at ground-floor level and accessible, by 6am on the day. Miss that window and the crew moves on. If you cannot get the wardrobe down the stairs yourself, the service does not help you.

2. Six items per slot, and a fridge counts as the whole slot. A garage, loft or end-of-tenancy clear-out runs past that immediately, and each further slot is another £53.

3. It takes no building or DIY waste. No rubble, no soil, no garden waste, no tyres, no hazardous items. After a refit, the council route is not available to you at all.

4. It is booked, not same-day. Collections run Monday to Friday and you take the next free date. At busy periods that can be several days out — worth knowing if you are clearing before a completion or a tenancy handover.

It is open seven days a week, 8am to 4pm, last entry 3.45pm.

It is free for Hillingdon residents, but cars need a HillingdonFirst card and vans need two forms of ID and are capped at 12 visits a year. It is household waste only — no trade waste.

Since 15 July, Hillingdon residents can also use Space Waye in Feltham, which is open seven days and much closer for the south of the borough.

The council specifically asks residents not to turn right into New Years Green Lane from Harvil Road — the junction backs up badly at weekends.

The catch that is unique to this borough is geography: the tip is up at Harefield, so “free” costs more the further south of the borough you live. From the bottom of Hillingdon a round trip plus a van permit is often dearer in fuel and a Saturday morning than a collection is.

Disposal and recycling are handled as part of the fixed price when we do it instead, with waste transfer paperwork on request so your duty of care is covered. Before booking any collection — with us or anyone — ask for the registered carrier’s details and verify them on the Environment Agency public register.
