West Drayton is the only town in the borough with its own council drop-off: the West Drayton waste weekends site at Railway Sidings, Tavistock Road, UB7 7QT. It is free, but only at weekends, only for residents with a HillingdonFirst card or a driving licence and a household bill, and with strictly no vans or commercial vehicles. Staff will not help you unload, and cars are sent to the next free bay rather than the right skip.
Hire a van and you are pushed to Harefield (UB9 6LX), with photo ID, a recent bill and a 12-visit cap, or to Space Waye in Feltham (TW14 0TH), where Friday to Sunday visits must be booked online. The council's free Pop-up Waste Drop is due at Stockley Park car park, UB7 8BU on 5 December and The Closes car park, UB7 7PY on 16 January, again with no vans allowed.
A family car takes a few bin bags and a chair. A full house means a lot of weekend runs, queuing on Tavistock Road each time and unloading every piece yourself. We do it in one visit and send items to reuse and licensed recycling.

If there turns out to be more than we quoted for, you hear the new price before anything goes in the van — not once it is loaded, and not on the invoice.
