What We Cleared

Palms and cordylines look tidy in a small front garden right up until they outgrow it. When they come down, the volume is deceptive — the fronds are long, spiky and springy, so they take up far more space than their weight suggests. This load included:

  • check_circle Dried, dead foliage raked out from underneath
  • check_circle Loose leaf litter and offcuts swept off the pavement

Ealing Council's garden waste collection is a subscription service and takes what fits in the bin. A cut-back on this scale is several bins’ worth in one go, and the trunk section would not be taken at all — which is why it ends up sitting on the pavement waiting for a van.

We loaded the lot straight off the pavement by hand and swept up behind it, so the frontage and the footpath were left clear.
