House Clearance & Man and Van in Hedgerley — What to Expect
Ask anyone in South Bucks to name a picture-postcard village and Hedgerley comes up fast: a linear run of red-brick and timber-framed cottages along the village street, the pond beside Court Farm House at its centre, and St Mary the Virgin — Benjamin Ferrey's Gothic Revival church, completed in 1852 — above it. The parish has taken the Best Kept Village title repeatedly, most recently in 2023 after wins in 2014 and 2015. Pretty comes with practicalities, though: period cottages with low lintels and tight staircases, long gardens, and lanes where a skip lorry is unwelcome. That's where we come in — house clearances and clear-outs loaded straight into the van, nothing sat on the verge.
The nearest tip is genuinely close — Burnham recycling centre on Crowpiece Lane, SL2 3TG shares Hedgerley's postcode sector, roughly two miles south of the village. But it's closed every Wednesday and Thursday, and vans, pick-ups and anything larger than a car need a free vehicle permit arranged with Buckinghamshire Council in advance. The council's bulky-waste collection runs £65 for one to three items, £130 for four to six and £195 for seven to nine — everything left outside by 6am, and no garden waste, bathroom suites or building materials on the accepted list. Our guides to the South Bucks tips and the Buckinghamshire bulky-waste service have the detail — or book us and it's carried out from where it sits, from £95.
Gardens are the big one here. On the edge of Burnham Beeches country, with walks running from the pond into Church Wood RSPB reserve, Hedgerley plots are long, hedged and heavily treed — and as above, the council's bulky service won't touch garden waste at all. We take green waste by the Sprinter-load: hedge and tree cuttings, turf, old fence panels, rotten sheds and greenhouse contents, with typical prices in our garden waste removal cost guide. Everything goes to licensed composting or recycling — never a lay-by.
For bigger jobs, access is what we plan around. The village has no station — it sits about three miles south-east of Beaconsfield and a couple of miles from Gerrards Cross — but the M40 runs along the top of the parish with junction 2 close by at Beaconsfield, so we're on site quickly from Uxbridge. Clearances of the older cottages, some 16th-century like Victoria Cottages, get the careful treatment: blankets, board protection and furniture walked out rather than wrestled. This is a village that's appeared on screen — Genevieve in 1953, The Amazing Mr Blunden in 1972 — and we treat it accordingly.
Before booking a waste collection: ask us to identify the registered carrier handling the job and provide the registration details. Verify those details on the Environment Agency public register before handing over any waste.
A typical fortnight in the parish: a part-clearance out at Hedgerley Green, garden waste off a long village plot, a mattress and sofa collection, and a man and van run into Slough or Farnham Common. We cover the whole run of villages between the M40 and the A4 — see our Fulmer and Burnham pages for the neighbouring patches.

Hedgerley FAQs
How much does house clearance cost in Hedgerley?
Clearances are priced by volume — how much of the van the contents fill — with collections from £95, hourly man and van from £65 and a fixed price agreed before we start. Photos on WhatsApp are enough for a quote. Our house clearance cost guide has typical figures by property size.
Can you collect the same day in Hedgerley?
Usually, yes. We're based in Uxbridge, work 7 days a week from 7am to 10pm, and SL2 sits inside our same-day priority area — typical arrival is within 1–2 hours of confirming. Call before noon for the best chance of a slot that day.
What's the nearest tip to Hedgerley?
Buckinghamshire's Burnham recycling centre on Crowpiece Lane, SL2 3TG — roughly two miles south, in the same postcode sector as the village. It's closed every Wednesday and Thursday, opens 9am–6pm the other five days, and vans and pick-ups need a free vehicle permit arranged in advance plus proof of a Bucks address. Our South Bucks tip guide covers the rules — or we collect from your door instead.
Does Buckinghamshire Council collect bulky waste in Hedgerley?
Yes — £65 for one to three items, £130 for four to six and £195 for seven to nine, with everything left outside the property by 6am on collection day. Bathroom suites, building materials and garden waste aren't accepted. If you want it carried out from inside the house, today, that's what we do — the council bulky waste guide has the full comparison.
Can you take garden waste the council won't collect?
Yes — garden waste is excluded from the council's bulky collection entirely, and Hedgerley's long plots generate plenty of it. We take hedge and tree cuttings, turf, old sheds and fence panels by the van-load and deliver them to licensed composting or recycling. See the garden waste cost guide for typical prices.
Are you licensed to carry waste?
Before any waste collection, ask us to identify the registered carrier handling the job and provide the registration details. You can verify those details on the Environment Agency public register before handing over any waste, and we can provide waste transfer paperwork on request so your duty of care is covered.
Which nearby areas do you cover?
As well as Hedgerley and Hedgerley Green we cover Beaconsfield, Gerrards Cross, Farnham Common, Fulmer, Burnham and Slough — the whole former South Bucks patch is normally under half an hour from base.
