Rubbish Removal & Man and Van in Hanwell (W7)

Most of Hanwell went up in one great rush. When the railway and the trams arrived, the fields along the Brent turned into street after street of Victorian and Edwardian terraces and villas — and more than a century on, those same houses drive most of our work in W7. Lofts fill, cellars fill, families downsize, tenancies end, and the narrow halls and steep stairs that make the houses charming also make house clearance and rubbish removal a job for a crew who do it every day. We carry everything out ourselves, from wherever it sits, protect the hallway on the way through, and leave the place swept.

The council route from W7 takes planning. Ealing's tip is the Greenford Road Reuse and Recycling Centre, Greenford Road, UB6 9AP, a couple of miles north of Hanwell — and it's strictly booking-only: no booking, no entry. It's also closed every Wednesday and Thursday, admits cars, motorcycles and bikes only, and you'll need photo ID and proof of an Ealing address at the gate (8am–5pm April to September, 8am–4pm through the winter). Ealing's bulky items collection is decent value when the job fits: from £30 for up to six items, collected between 7am and 3pm on a date you choose. Read the small print, though — a bed base and mattress count as two items, everything must be manageable as a two-person lift, and bigger clear-outs are priced by quote. It's also a kerbside service, so the furniture still has to get down the stairs and out the front door first. We do the whole job instead: sofas and mattresses from any floor, part-loads and full loads, seven days a week, with a fixed price agreed before we lift a thing.

Hanwell wears its engineering on its sleeve. The Wharncliffe Viaduct — Brunel's first major structural design, finished in 1837 and Grade I listed — still carries the main line and the Elizabeth line over the Brent valley, and the Hanwell flight of six locks on the Grand Union Canal is the largest lock flight in London, protected as a scheduled ancient monument. Four Elizabeth line trains an hour from Hanwell's Grade II listed station keep the area changing hands, and every sale, renovation and loft conversion generates work — from builders' waste off terrace refits to man and van moves from £65 an hour in and out of W7.

Before booking a waste collection: ask us to identify the registered carrier handling the job and provide the registration details. Verify those details on the Environment Agency public register before handing over any waste.
