Some things should not go in a parcel network. A watch going to a dealer, a stone going to a setter, a signed contract that has to be somewhere by four, a prototype that exists once, a piece going to a gallery. Van Thats Quick runs a high-value motorcycle courier service across London for exactly those jobs — one named rider collects the item, carries it, and hands it to the person receiving it. Nothing else is on the bike.
What you are actually paying for is custody. A parcel network is cheap because your item joins a shared route: it moves through depots, gets sorted onto shelves, changes hands several times, and sits overnight somewhere you cannot name. Every one of those steps is a place it can go missing, and none of them has a person attached to it. We do the opposite. One rider, start to finish. No depot. No sorting hub. No overnight shelf. If you want to know where your item is, you ring the person holding it.
Be straight with us about what it is worth — before you book. This matters more than anything else on this page. Standard courier goods-in-transit cover across this industry commonly excludes jewellery, watches, cash and other valuables outright, or limits them to a few tens of pounds per item unless they have been declared in advance. The Road Haulage Association's standard conditions cap a carrier's liability at £1,300 per tonne, which on something small and precious is close to nothing. That is the industry norm, not a quirk of ours, and most carriers simply do not mention it.
So we would rather have the awkward conversation first. Tell us what the item is and what it is worth, and we will tell you plainly what our cover does and does not extend to for that job — and if it does not reach far enough, we will say so and you can arrange your own transit cover or use a specialist. Ask us for the current insurance certificate, the cover limits and the exclusions that apply before you book. We would much rather lose a job than carry something on a misunderstanding.
Why a motorcycle. Across central London a bike is simply the faster vehicle — it filters through queues a van sits in, it parks where a Luton cannot, and motorcycles are exempt from the Congestion Charge. For anything that fits in a topbox and needs to be somewhere quickly, it beats the van across town, which is why the legal, jewellery and production trades in this city have used motorcycle couriers for decades.
London only, and we mean it literally. Our bikes are based in London and they work London. We have no riders in Manchester, Birmingham or anywhere else, and we are not going to pretend otherwise. Outside the capital the same work goes by van — see our courier service for regional runs and large item courier for anything big.
What fits. Topbox or rider's rucksack: document wallets and contracts, keys, a watch or a small piece of jewellery in its box, phones, tablets and laptops, small boxed parts, sample bags, drawings, a memory card off a shoot. If it needs two hands to carry, it is a van job and we will tell you that when you ask rather than turning up on a bike. Larger items start from £55 within the M25 on our van courier rate.
Looking to move an actual motorbike? Different service, different page — a bike being transported rides in one of our vans, strapped and secured. That is motorcycle transport. This page is a motorcycle carrying your item, not a van carrying your motorcycle.
Booking. Tell us what it is, what it is worth, both postcodes and when it needs to be there. We confirm a fixed price and the cover position before the rider moves. Call 07547 467335, send the details on WhatsApp, or request a quote.
High value courier prices
Priced by zone, with a dedicated rider on the job and nothing else on the bike. Confirmed as a fixed figure — along with the cover position — before anyone collects.
The City, West End, Hatton Garden, Mayfair, Covent Garden.
Direct across town with no depot stop on the way.
Out towards the boundary, still one rider the whole way.
It moves to a van on our courier rate within the M25.
A dedicated rider costs more than a shared parcel route, and that is the entire point — you are paying for one person carrying one item. Value is declared before booking so the cover position is settled in advance. Van work is priced on our pricing page.

Motorcycle Courier — your questions answered
Is my item insured while the rider has it?
Tell us what it is worth before you book and we will tell you plainly what our cover reaches for that job. This matters because standard courier goods-in-transit cover across the industry commonly excludes jewellery, watches, cash and valuables outright, or limits them to a few tens of pounds per item unless declared in advance — and the Road Haulage Association's standard conditions cap liability at £1,300 per tonne, which is close to nothing on something small and precious. Ask us for the current certificate, the limits and the exclusions before booking. If our cover does not reach far enough for your item, we will say so.
What makes this different from a normal courier?
Custody. A parcel network is cheap because your item joins a shared route through depots and sorting hubs, changing hands repeatedly with no single person attached to it. With us one named rider collects your item, carries it with nothing else on the bike, and hands it to the person receiving it. You can ring the person holding your item. That is what the price difference buys.
Do you screen your riders?
No, and we are not going to imply otherwise. What we do offer is that the same named rider collects and delivers, that you get their contact details, and that nothing else travels on that run. If your item requires formally screened personnel or a licensed security carrier, that is a different kind of company from us and we would rather tell you so up front than take the booking.
How much does it cost?
From £95 for a Zone 1 run, £145 across Zones 2 to 4 and £195 out towards the Greater London boundary. It is more than a shared parcel route because it is a dedicated rider carrying one item — that is what you are paying for. The price is fixed before collection, along with the cover position.
What kinds of things do you carry?
Document wallets and signed contracts, keys, a watch or small piece of jewellery in its box, phones, tablets and laptops, small boxed parts, sample bags, drawings, a memory card off a shoot. Broadly: anything that fits a topbox, that one person can carry, and that you would not want going through a sorting hub. Anything larger moves to a van from £55 within the M25.
Do you cover outside London?
Not by bike. Our motorcycles are London-based and work London only — there are no riders in Manchester, Birmingham or anywhere else, and we would rather say so than take a booking we cannot honour. Outside London the same work goes by van; see our courier service.
I want my motorbike moved — is this the right page?
No, that is the other way round. This service is a motorcycle carrying your item. If you need an actual motorbike collected and transported, that rides in one of our vans and is covered on our motorcycle transport page.
Can you do regular or contract runs?
Yes, and they are usually the easiest work we do because the route and timing are already known. Standing collections between two offices, a recurring run to a setter or a dealer, or a rider on call for a working day — call us and we will price it properly rather than charging every leg as a fresh one-off.
