One item or a van load to Edinburgh?

The two prices cover two different jobs, and picking the right one is most of the saving.

• One item, £760. A sofa, a bed frame and mattress, a wardrobe, a fridge freezer, a motorbike in the van, a dining table, an armchair, a TV and a couple of boxes, or a marketplace buy you found in Edinburgh. One driver collects it, straps it in with blankets and delivers it to the room you want. A second item from the same pickup adds £25. If it genuinely needs two people — a heavy wardrobe up a narrow stair, an American fridge — add £45 for a second person at the collection or delivery end.
• A van load, fixed quote. A studio or one-bed flat, a student room, a part-load of furniture and boxes, or several marketplace purchases collected across Edinburgh in one run. That is a day-rate job with two movers: the driving, the fuel and the loading at both ends are all inside the number. Two-bed and larger homes are a removals job and quoted separately.

How a London to Edinburgh run works

We confirm a fixed price from your photos and the two postcodes — the mileage sets it, £1.90 a loaded mile with a £95 minimum — then agree a collection time, usually within two hours where the diary allows. The driver loads in London, drives the M1 and A1, and unloads in Edinburgh the next morning — 400 miles is a 7-hour drive each way, so a single item collected in the morning is driven through overnight and delivered first thing. Waiting time is free for the first 20 minutes at each end, then £15 per 15 minutes.

Things that change the price and are worth telling us up front: stairs without a lift at either end, a parking restriction or a permit zone at the Edinburgh address, and whether anyone will be there to let us in. The Congestion Charge (£18) is passed through only if the London address is inside the zone; our vans are ULEZ-compliant so there is nothing else to add.

For a one-bed flat, the day-rate van load on a fixed quote is the number to plan around: two movers, a Luton, loaded in the morning and unloaded in Edinburgh that afternoon. Pack boxes the night before, keep the things you need on the first night in the car, and tell us if there is a lift booking at either end.
